The impulse to create an image is predicated on a notion of borrowing a certain stillness, and the camera is the tool for freezing these moments in time. A historian makes records of spoken words; this artist aspires to make records of experienced feelings. His process of noticing is an ongoing effort to apply decisions around framing, lighting, and processing.

This untitled body of work is driven by the artist’s sensitivity with something like an internal compass pointed towards opportunities for requiem. Each image leaves ambiguity for the viewer to feel one’s own feelings. They are canvases to channel inner turmoil into metaphysical peace. The intended effect is something of a liminal siesta.
